Professional Disposition:

Technology in my humble opinion is the number one source for keeping our students engaged in the lessons, which we are presenting. Today’s children are much more technologically advanced than they were 10 or 20 years ago. As much as 90% of everything that our children do outside the school involves the use of technology. In order to optimize our time and effort we need to introduce our students to educational material through the use of technology. The material may not change, but the delivery does, and it produces students who are more interested and engaged in what they are learning.

Computer Programs Which I am Proficient in:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Smartboard
  • Many Research Programs and Tools: i.e. Eric, Education Research Complete, EBSCO, School and Public Library.
  • AutoCAD 2000, 2004, 2007
  • Viz Render

How will I use Technology in the Classroom and Outside of the Classroom?:

The use of Smartboard technology in my classroom will greatly enhance how my students learn, as well as, what they want to continue to investigate. Students at the elementary level especially enjoy lessons, which utilize props, computers, and hands-on activities. It is my responsibility to provide an environment where our children are excited about learning. I believe that I can do this through the use of technology and allowing my students to explore educational material through firsthand experience via the computer.

The first thing that I plan to do when I receive my first classroom is to set up a website that my students and their families or guardians can look to for extra help. I will provide examples for the parents to review on this site, which will allow them to assist the children in the desired learning outcome that I am attempting to achieve in the classroom.
